The ‘stan’s’ – part 2

So we were left with ‘Kazakhstan’ of the 3 ‘stan’s’…

Day 54: Turkestan, Kazakhstan

Today was a very long drive with a border crossing. The border crossing took much longer than expected (10 hours rather than the 6 hours).  So, the drive being 594 km (369 miles) had to be cut short by 300 km (186 miles).

We ended up staying at Turkestan (unscheduled stop) instead of Kyzyrlorda (scheduled stop). It was already past midnight when we stopped. I thought there was more driving to be done and  I was in such a drowsy mood, that I kept walking towards the car and Tai was pulling me towards the room! 😬

Day 55: Aralsk, Kazakhstan

Today we had to cover up for the unscheduled stop. A 444 km (275 miles) drive became a 744km (462 miles) drive in the repetitive plains of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the day, we reached the hotel to find out that we had common public toilets/washrooms 😫! However, everyone thought I was the bravest to have a shower in one of those 2 public places!😏

On our way to Aralsk, I saw these camels. They looked absolutely wicked and wild! They are known as the Bactrian camels.

Day 56: Aktobe, Kazakhstan

There was one interesting thing about Kazakhstan – the police! Most of the cars got caught for breaking rules. Only 3 out of the 13 cars weren’t caught and most of the cars got caught more than twice. We got stopped by police ‘only 2 times‘ on one of the days! Once for cutting lanes and once for speeding!

And also a bit of the windscreen got chipped off!

Aktobe was our last stop in Kazakhstan before we move on to Russia.

Now, only 15 days till we reach London! Woohoo!!!
