I’m a celebrity (not), get me out of here!

The Flag Off!

So, my grandparents (nana and tai) and myself had a farewell ceremony before the big travel ‘The Flag-Off’ ceremony! I really hadn’t thought about it much.  I thought it would be a small occasion  by close friends and family just to see us off – say ‘bye’ to us. Nothing in my head prepared me for the actual ceremony. There were loads of people (around 250, most of whom I had never met before); there was media (yes… people from newspapers and news channels).

The huge crowd!

Two days before the ceremony, Nana had told me to make a short speech. I was up for it. Seeing the number of people that were there, I got a bit overwhelmed. I almost chickened out off giving the speech. But then, I just told myself, ‘Don’t worry, Ninni, you can do it!

Everyone thought I spoke pretty well! Phew!

Speech time!

One more ‘different’ experience, I would like to share with you all. When we arrived at the flag off ceremony, I suddenly became a celebrity. I was being pulled in all directions by random people, so that they could take selfies with me! Can you believe it?!? After the first few minutes of being there…..I realised, I hated the attention. I wasn’t enjoying the spotlight on me! Not at all!

My parents saw that I was uncomfortable. They started teasing me, “Hey Ninni, dont you feel like ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!”

Well, finally, it was time for the final ‘wave off’. I was quite apprehensive at the thought of leaving my parents for a few weeks. Its been a few days without them, I still miss them a lot especially at bed times. (I send them every single  possible bitmoji I can find).

Already working on my next blog! I have got a lot of interesting things to share.
