It’s gone so fast!

Wow!!!

The time has gone real fast! A week into our trip has disappeared in a FLASH!!! So far, we have traveled 2277 km, clocked 45 hours and crossed 48 towns/cities.

I am so tempted to enlist all the towns that I have seen, but that will make the read very boring! 🙁 So will just mention the highlights of some of my days:

Day 1 & 2 : Enroute to Shirpur & Bhopal (towards central part of India)

I left mummy and daddy with butterflies in my tummy. Just as I was getting used to this feeling, I saw some exciting things on the road.

A camel crossing the road

A plane wing being transferred

These things did take my mind off missing daddy and mummy.

Day 4: Jhansi (a very historic city in the central part of India)

I was very tired today and I was sleeping in the car. I missed out on seeing a temple (I had already seen loads by day 4 and wasn’t that upset about missing out on one more). Luckily, I woke up in time for an amazing experience of visiting the Jhansi fort. I nearly would have missed out on this opportunity, if I hadn’t woken up. I got to watch the ‘Sound & Light’ show at the fort – it was about the Rani (Queen) of Jhansi. Now, the lovely show came with a tiny complication – this event was held outside in the open, so as usual because of the sweet blood that runs in me, I got bitten 13 times by mosquitoes. (Yes, I was counting the bites!). MOSQUITOES GALORE!!! Hmmph!!!

The highlight of the day was the hotel we stayed in! The Jhansi hotel – it was super luxurious! 🙂

Day 5: Ayodhya (a very religious city for Hindus)

Oh no! Gulp! There was a lizard in the hotel room.

One of my teachers (Mrs Picking) suffers from herpetophobia – a fear of reptiles. For Mrs Picking, its mainly lizards that scare her. Other than this place being the birthplace of Lord Rama, it reminded me of Mrs Picking. (She had asked me to remember her every time I saw a lizard!).

Day 6 & 7: Varanasi (another religious town for Hindus)

River Ganges runs along Varanasi city. We went along with some friends to watch the ‘aarti’ veneration ceremonies on the banks of the river. The prayer ceremonies were quite interesting, but I was attacked again by mosquitoes! 🙁

I also saw a lot of university students sketching along the banks of the river.

Well, that’s it from me for now! Should be back soon!
